What is metering upgrades / 3-phase?
Going from single-phase to three-phase is Level 2 ASP work. It's the right call if you're adding a workshop with industrial gear, a fast EV charger, a pool with a high-draw pump, or a large ducted A/C system - and it's sometimes the only way to satisfy Ausgrid when existing single-phase mains can't cope. We handle the full scope: consumer mains, switchboard, metering and energisation.
When you need it
- You're adding a 22kW EV charger or multiple chargers.
- A workshop, home shed or granny flat is drawing more than single-phase can comfortably supply.
- Ducted A/C, pool heat pumps and induction cooktops added to the same house.
- A renovation or new build where 3-phase is being specified from day one.
- An Ausgrid defect notice has flagged the existing mains as inadequate.

We calculate maximum demand based on your existing and new circuits.
Scope & quote
Typically: new 3-phase mains, new 3-phase meter, upgraded switchboard, tails, main switch.
Ausgrid notifications
NOSW + EWR lodged; your retailer coordinated for the new meter.
Changeover
2-4 hour planned outage; new mains run, new switchboard commissioned, meter installed.
Certify
Tested, energised, CCEW and metering verification issued.

Does my street have 3-phase available?
Most established Central Coast streets do. We check Ausgrid's network map before quoting, so there are no surprises.
Do I really need 3-phase for an EV charger?
Not always. A 7kW single-phase charger is fine for most households. Upgrade is usually justified when you have a 22kW charger, two EVs, or a lot of concurrent large loads.
How long will I be off power?
Typically 2-4 hours during the changeover. We aim for a single planned outage.
