What is ausgrid defect notice rectification?

An Ausgrid defect notice is a formal instruction to fix an electrical safety issue on your property, usually on the consumer's side of the supply (your pole, your mains, your meter panel, your service line). Only a Level 2 ASP electrician can rectify network-side defects and clear them with Ausgrid. We handle dozens of defect jobs every year across the Central Coast and know exactly what each sticker means and how to close it out.

When you need it

  • You've found a red, yellow or blue sticker on your meter, pole or switchboard.
  • You've received a letter from Ausgrid following an inspection.
  • Your pole has been tagged as rotten, leaning or non-compliant.
  • Your service line is too low over a driveway or has failed clearance.
  • Your meter panel, mains or main switch has been flagged as unsafe.

Our process

Read the notice together

Send us a photo of the sticker / notice - we'll tell you exactly what's needed and give an indicative price on the call.

Rectification

Depending on the defect this may be a pole, mains, service line, meter panel or POA repair. We notify Ausgrid via NOSW.

Common questions

Frequently asked

I got a red sticker - is my power about to be disconnected?
A red sticker is the highest priority. Call us today; we aim to book priority defect notices within 48-72 hours so you don't reach the disconnect point.
How much time do I have?
Most defect notices give 21 days. Reds can be shorter. We'll tell you on the call based on your photo of the notice.
Will Ausgrid come back and re-inspect?
For most rectifications the CCEW we issue is sufficient. For major defects Ausgrid may re-inspect, and we coordinate that for you.
What if the defect is in the meter panel itself?
We repair or replace the meter panel, meter tails and main switch, and coordinate any meter swap required with your retailer in the same visit.
